Request for Clinical Placement Offers
Thank you to our valued clinical partners for another successful placement year in 2024-25!
Together we provided 223 student placements, 80 clinical laboratory sessions, 8 teaching clinics and 110 clinical observations to educate your future colleagues! This is a tremendous collective achievement, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed.
Placement Planning for 2025-26:
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce that planning for the 2025-26 academic year is now underway. We are seeking clinical placements, laboratory and teaching clinic facilitators, and guided observation opportunities in the following units:
Unit 7 – January/February 2026:
SLP 1508Y: Advanced Clinical Laboratory in Speech-Language Pathology
- This is an 8-week, Year 2 placement focused on neurogenic and structurally related disorders.
Unit 3 – March/April 2026:
SLP 1500Y: Internship
- This is an 8-week, Year 1 placement focused on developmental communication disorders.
Unit 9 – Mid-May/Mid-July 2026:
SLP 2500Y: Advanced Internship
- This is a 10-week, Year 2 final placement focused on any area of practice.
Unit 5 – July 2026:
SLP 1507: Clinical Laboratory in Speech-Language Pathology
- This is a 4-week clinical skills laboratory course that includes observations, and a mix of live and simulated case-based clinical skills activities.
- We are seeking laboratory facilitators and observation opportunities for this course.
- Please fill out the Teaching Clinic and Laboratory Facilitation Form indicating your interest.
- If you are specifically interested in Clinical laboratory facilitation, a separate Microsoft form with dates and times will be sent in November 2025 for signup.
How to Get Involved
1. Submit a Placement Offer
- Submit your placement offers by logging into your InPlace account.
- Detailed instructions are available on the Submitting SLP Clinical Placement Offers in InPlace webpage.
- If you do not already have an account, contact rss.slpclined@utoronto.ca to request access.
2. Facilitate Learning Opportunities
- Sign up to facilitate clinical laboratories, teaching clinics, or guided observations by filing out the Teaching Clinic and Laboratory Facilitation Form.
Why Participate in Clinical Education at the University of Toronto?
By participating, you can:
- Introduce your organization to potential future employees and referral partners
- Learn from students about the latest research and evidence‑based practice in the field
- Enhance your reflective practice and teaching skills
- Apply for an Adjunct Appointment
- Count contributions toward CASLPO Continuous Learning Activity Credits (CLACs) in the annual Self-Assessment Tool (SAT)
- Receive recognition through our Annual Clinical Education Recognition Program, funded by the provincial government, which includes:
- $10 per day, per student paid to the site to support clinical education initiatives
- A draw for CASLPO fee reimbursement (two clinical educators per unit; one entry per student)
- Gift cards recognizing significant contributions to paired/group placements and teaching clinic or laboratory facilitation
Most importantly, you play a vital role in preparing future colleagues and stewarding the profession!
