Welcome SLP Class of 2023!

Kristen Palumbo and Maya Aharon, year 2 SLP students, organize goodie bags for the incoming SLP class. Special thanks to Laura Tulk, a fellow year 2 SLP student, who worked hard over the summer to organize orientation for the new students as co-orientation coordinator with Kristen.

May is Speech and Hearing Awareness Month!

May is a special month for many reasons, but for those who work as speech-language pathologists or audiologists it has even more meaning because we celebrate our professions and take the opportunity to showcase how much impact they have on the people we serve. Annually the Department of Speech-Language Pathology hosts FREE Public Lectures on Topics Relating to Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. This past May (May 19th, 2022) our department featured two guest speakers: Kuruvilla Mathew, Audiologist / Lecturer (Status) (Reg. CASLPO) & Coordinator of Clinical Education : Hearing Disorders and Yvonne Wyndham, Speech-Language Pathologist, Learning Centre 1, Toronto District School Board (Reg. CASLPO).

Mathew presented on Hearing and Cognition and Yvonne discussed Promoting the Work of Speech-Language Pathologists in the area of Mental Health and Well-Being.

If you were not able to join us please see below for a video link of the Audiology Portion of the May Month presentation and the references Mathew used in his talk.

Innovations for an Accessible World: International Day of Persons with Disabilities

"This year marks the 30th anniversary of the United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which was first recognized in 1992 following a gathering in Montreal of the International Conference of Ministers Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities. This year’s theme is transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world, with a focus on places of employment and available tools to better the experience of workers and patrons."
