Alumni Welcome Breakfast
Hosted early in the fall term by the Alumni Executive and Year 2 students, the Alumni Welcome Breakfast welcomes incoming Year 1 students to the MHSc program.
This informal gathering provides an opportunity for students and alumni to connect, helping new students feel supported during their first month while establishing early relationships within the U of T SLP community.
Alumni interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact us at: slp.alumni@community.utoronto.ca
Graduation Reception
The Graduation Reception is held each November prior to fall convocation for graduating MHSc students and their guests.
The event includes remarks from the Department Chair and Alumni President, presentation of the Sandra M. Henderson Award for Excellence in Clinical Placements, and an academic award recognizing the highest academic standing in the program. Musical appearances by the Harmonize for Speech Fund Barbershoppers add to the celebration.
Following the reception, graduates proceed to Knox College to collect gowns for the convocation ceremony.
Ask an Alum
Held each spring for Year 2 students, Ask an Alum supports students as they prepare to transition into professional practice.
The event includes resume and cover letter samples, mock interviews conducted by alumni, discussion of interview strategies, current job openings, and practical job‑search advice.
