Message from the Chair

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto has a strong and proud history being the first English-speaking program in Canada. You can read more about our history in the section About Speech-Language Pathology at U of T

Our clinical master’s program (MHSc) has a unique unit structure, providing a direct link between the content covered in academic units and subsequent clinical placements. We annually enrol 50 new students in our program, selecting from the very best candidates who apply with a background in a variety of disciplines.
Our program stood at the forefront of the development of an innovative and well-recognized interprofessional education (IPE) curriculum provided to all students in the health sciences.

We partner with the departments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI) in the rehabilitation sector that ranks among the very top in the world. Our research students are part of the SLP programs in the RSI and with our faculty as supervisors conduct innovative and ground-breaking research that will benefit individuals with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders.

Our faculty are leaders in their respective fields of expertise with a strong inter- and multi-disciplinary focus, supporting successful collaborations within the university and its affiliated clinical sites.
I invite you to browse the contents of our website and learn more about our program, our faculty and their research, the alumni activities and our clinical community. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to send me a message.
