Why Must SLPs be Part of the Multidisciplinary Field of Literacy?

Jana Leggett holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Toronto. She is a SLP for the Toronto District School Board with a special interest in working with students who have difficulties in the areas of higher level language processing, reading and writing. Jana’s current role in the school board includes designing and leading professional development programs for teachers, educational assistants, parents and other professionals. She co-authored an evidence-based language and literacy program for grades 1 and 2. Jana is an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto’s Speech-Language Pathology department and the past president of The Ontario Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.  She is the co-author of  Oral Language at Your Finger Tips.
