Turning research into clinical practice: The Hanen Centre’s Partnership with the University of Toronto

ELAINE WEITZMAN, THE HANEN CENTER

Elaine Weitzman is the Executive Director of The Hanen Centre. Elaine received her SLP degree in South Africa and her Master of Education degree at York University in Toronto. She played a major role in the development of the It Takes Two to Talk® Program for parents and the Learning Language and Loving it™ Program for Early Childhood Educators and is the author of the parent guidebook, It Takes Two to Talk®: A Practical Guide for Parents of Children with Language Delays. She is the co-author of the Hanen guidebooks: Learning Language and Loving It: A Guide to Promoting Children’s Social, Language, & Literacy Development in Early Childhood Settings; ABC and Beyond™: Building Emergent Literacy in Early Childhood Settings, and I’m Ready™: How to Prepare Your Child for Reading Success. Her research on parent and teacher training in collaboration with Dr. Luigi Girolametto, Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto, has been widely published. Ms. Weitzman has an appointment as Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Speech Language Pathology.
