Early Dysphagia Detection: The impact of timing on better patient care

ROSEMARY MARTINO, DEPARTMENT OF SLP UOFT

Rosemary Martino is a Professor and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Swallowing Disorders at the Department of SLP UofT. She was trained as a SLP and after practicing for a number of years she returned to academia and obtained a masters and a PhD degrees in epidemiology from the University of Toronto. She directs Swallowing Disorders Laboratories at UofT and UHN – Krembil Research Institute. The focus of Dr. Martino’s research is dysphagia, more particularly oropharyngeal dysphagia, secondary to neurological, cancer and cardiovascular etiologies. She is a recipient of many grants and published and presented extensively in her area of research. She is a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
