The Department of Speech-Language Pathology extends its warm congratulations to Lisa McQueen, adjunct lecturer, on receiving the Community-Based Teaching Award at the annual Temerty Education Achievement Celebration. This prestigious award recognizes and celebrates outstanding contributions to medical teaching and education scholarship across the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.
Lisa has been a Speech-Language Pathologist at Toronto Rehab for more than 25 years, where she currently serves as Education Site Coordinator for SLP clinical placements across all four Toronto Rehab sites. Over the years, she has held numerous leadership roles, including SLP Practice Leader, Co-lead for Stroke Distinction Accreditation, and Stroke Clinical LEAN Lead. Yet, she describes her most meaningful role as being a clinician on the Inpatient Stroke Unit, a place she fondly refers to as her “second home.”
Lisa’s work reflects her passion for both education and communication, which she seamlessly integrates into her clinical and teaching practice. She was previously recognized with the 2024 Award for Clinical Teaching Excellence and the 2023 UHN Award for Contribution to Patient Education and Engagement, further underscoring her remarkable commitment to patient care and student learning.
“Lisa exemplifies what it means to be a selfless, dedicated, and highly respected clinician — not only in the eyes of her students but also in those of her patients and colleagues.”
We are proud to celebrate Lisa’s achievements and her trailblazing contributions to our students, the profession, and the rehabilitation sciences community. Congratulations, Lisa!
